Tanya Pont, Vice Chancellor, University Advancement
Tanya Pont serves as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, where she provides senior executive leadership for the university’s fundraising, alumni and community engagement, marketing and communications, stakeholder engagement, government relations, and institutional events. She leads integrated, data‑driven strategies that enhance Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµâ€™s visibility, strengthen recruitment marketing, increase institutional reputation, and advance student success and long‑term institutional sustainability.
Pont is a member of both the Chancellor’s Executive Council and the Chancellor’s Cabinet, advising the Chancellor on strategic initiatives related to philanthropy, civic engagement, public policy, advocacy, and institutional communications.
As Vice Chancellor, Pont oversees the Advancement Department, which includes Development, Alumni and Community Engagement, University Marketing and Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Government Relations, and Institutional Events. She directs comprehensive fundraising efforts and serves as Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµâ€™s chief liaison to the University of Alaska Foundation. Her portfolio also includes leadership of high‑profile institutional events such as Commencement and Convocation, as well as collaboration with enrollment and student affairs partners to support recruitment, retention and graduation.
Pont currently also serves as Acting Director of Athletics, providing executive leadership during a key period of transition.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Her leadership and service have been recognized with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Community Engagement (2024), Alaska Armed Services Civic Leader of the Year (2023), and the Achievement in Business Leadership Award (2021).
