    FPI Management is hiring for an Assistant Community Director at Chester Creek Estates in Anchorage, Alaska, and also has an opening at Jewel Lake Villa. This role supports the Community Director in overseeing daily property operations and ensuring the community meets both operational and financial goals. FPI Management works closely with housing assistance programs, including Section 8 and Tax Credit, to provide affordable housing options for low-income families.   • 2. Student Assistant in Recruitment & Retention Support with ĢƵ

    The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) is hiring a Student Assistant at ĢƵ in Anchorage, Alaska. This role offers the opportunity to support recruitment efforts by connecting with prospective students and helping showcase the Seawolf experience. As a Student Assistant, you’ll gain hands-on experience in event planning, outreach, and social media, all while developing marketing skills, expanding your network, and building your resume.   • 3. Student Assistant

    📍 Anchorage, AK. Flexible Hours  📆 Available Immediately

    The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) is seeking a student worker to assist with the 2025 Alaska Native Values in Modern Governance: A Training Conference. The position will provide experience in event coordination, communication, and professional outreach while supporting a large-scale community event. Work will include collecting and organizing emails, gathering information from trainers and attendees, assisting with registration, attending the conference on November 14–15, and helping with follow-up activities such as thank-you messages and post-event communications. Students interested in event planning, community engagement, or public service are encouraged to apply.

  • 4. Operations Support with 49th State Vacation Rentals Lodging and Tours LLC

    📍 Arctic Fox Inn (with potential hours at additional locations). $18/Hour + Bonuses.  📆 Available Immediately

    49th State Vacation Rentals Lodging and Tours LLC, an Alaskan-owned company managing six Anchorage-area properties, is hiring Operations Support staff. This role involves property upkeep and guest services, including cleaning rooms, maintaining common areas, basic groundskeeping, minor repairs, and assisting with check-ins, check-outs, and reservations. Staff may also support the office and show units to potential tenants. Candidates should be detail-oriented, willing to clean, and comfortable using Google Drive, Sheets, Word, and Gmail; customer service or hospitality experience is preferred, and familiarity with Airbnb, Expedia, QuickBooks, or GoDaddy is a plus. The position pays $18/hour and includes either a housing contract or allowance, along with an end-of-season performance bonus. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. and complete all new hire paperwork.

🧠 How to Make the Most of the New Semester

  • Build Relationships Early
    Introduce yourself to your professors, advisors, and classmates. These connections can lead to internship leads, recommendation letters, or career guidance down the road. Such as Connection Cafe events!

  • Join a Club or Organization
    Getting involved in relevant student groups could help you build your resume and skills for your career path.

  • Add One Career Event to Your Calendar
    Start small. Whether it’s a resume workshop, info session or career fair, putting something on your schedule means you’ve put aside the time and begun your work for the semester. 

  • Pick One Skill to Grow This Semester
    Think about soft skills (like public speaking) or technical skills (like excel or data analysis) you want to improve. Then look for a course, campus resource or opportunity to practice it.

CBPP Spotlight

Whitney Flores

Meet Whitney Flores. Whitney is the Director of Academic Advising, where she leads a team of advisors serving the College of Business and Public Policy, the College of Engineering, and the Community & Technical College. She also actively advises the Culinary Arts program. Her nearly 13-year career at ĢƵ began as a student worker with the Green Fee Board, later moving into the College of Arts and Sciences before joining the CTC in 2018 as an advisor for the Culinary Arts program.

Flores stepped into the Director role in spring 2023 and is currently completing her M.S. in Project Management. Whitney holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from ĢƵ, with a focus on undergraduate research in arctic and sustainable food systems and nutrition. She is passionate about higher education and assisting students along in their academic journey. Education has always been a focal point in her life. A fun fact about Whitney is that she served in the United States Alaska Air National Guard in the 176th Security Forces Squadron.  

Outside of work, Whitney plays banjo, sings in an orchestra, is active in the Anchorage theatre scene, is actively engaged in the LGBTQIA+ community, gardens, loves cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, and enjoys bringing people together through food.  Whitney is an avid traveler both domestically and internationally and will spend a month this September in Scotland! She has a loving spouse, a great bonus kiddo, and two adorable dogs, Daisy and Sassy. Whitney is always immersed in a project—whether at home or improving advisor training at ĢƵ. She will always nerd out with people who want to talk about Star Trek or Lord of the Rings!
