⚙️ Practical Ways to Prepare for the Semester

You don’t need a full plan on day one, but a few intentional actions now can reduce stress later.

  • Get familiar with what’s available
Spend time browsing internship listings and campus events, even if you’re not ready to apply yet. Knowing what exists helps you make quicker decisions later.

  • Create a simple tracking system
Whether it’s a notes app, spreadsheet, or calendar, having one place to track opportunities, deadlines, and follow-ups keeps things from slipping through the cracks.

  • Check your professional materials early
Make sure your resume, email signature, and LinkedIn profile reflect where you are now — not last semester.

  • Identify one area to focus on
This could be gaining experience, building skills, networking, or preparing for life after graduation. A single focus can guide your choices throughout the semester.

CBPP Highlights

ASSET Awards – Fall 2025

The ASSET Award (Accounting Student Success & Engagement Tech Award) is a new ĢƵ Accounting Department initiative recognizing Anchorage-campus Accounting and Bookkeeping majors for academic performance and engagement. Each semester, students earn points through coursework and departmental involvement, and five recipients are randomly selected to receive university-supported Windows laptops funded by the Lenore and George Hedla Fund through the Accounting Department Computers for Students Program. In December, five CBPP Accounting students received laptops through this initiative. Launched this fall, the program celebrates student commitment, supports success, and strengthens the Accounting learning community through a transparent, semester-end award process. If you’re interested in learning more about this program, please contact Stasia Straley at scstraley@alaska.edu.
