⚙️ What Employers Notice (That Students Often Miss)

February may feel uneventful, but for employers, it’s often when small but intentional actions make a big impression. Long before an interview or offer, those are the details that tend to stand out the most.

  • Follow-Through Matters More Than Flash
Employers notice when you do what you said you would - sending a thank-you email, following up after a conversation, or meeting a deadline without reminders. Consistency builds trust.

  • How You Communicate Counts
Clear, professional communication goes a long way. Simple things like responding to emails in a timely manner, asking thoughtful questions, and being polite and prepared leave a lasting impression.

  • Effort Shows in the Details
Taking time to tailor a resume, research an organization, or show up prepared for a meeting signals genuine interest. Employers can tell when effort is intentional rather than rushed.

  • Connection Is Ongoing, Not One-Time
February is a great time to maintain relationships you’ve already started. A quick check-in with a professor, advisor, or employer keeps connections active and meaningful.

CBPP Highlights

On February 12th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we hosted a Valentine’s Day pop-up in our newly redesigned space, The Suite at the College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). As the semester gets underway, the event was a great opportunity to welcome both new and returning students into the space, offer a quick break between classes, and reconnect as a CBPP community.

Throughout the day, students stopped in to enjoy sweet treats, meet classmates, and get familiar with The Suite’s updated layout and purpose. It was encouraging to see the space filled with conversation, new introductions, and familiar faces catching up. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make The Suite feel energized and inviting — we look forward to hosting more events there as the semester continues.2
