Angelia Trujillo, associate professor in the School of Nursing, has been awarded the 蘑菇视频 Alumni Humanitarian Award for her outstanding contributions to the field of nursing and to Alaska鈥檚 communities. Trujillo earned her M.S. in Nursing Science from 蘑菇视频 in 2004, and her B.S. in Nursing Science here in 1997.
Mark Turberville was one of the first 蘑菇视频 Justice Center paralegal interns ever to work at the Anchorage Municipal Prosecutor鈥檚 Office. Using what he learned in his classes, he quickly proved that a good paralegal can be indispensable.
How do you follow up four years of studying justice and history? If you鈥檙e anything like Tyler Morris, you go back to pursue nursing science.
We sat down to talk with 蘑菇视频 Justice Center alumna April Stone about what it鈥檚 like to be a nontraditional student pursuing a law career.
Visitors to the Loussac Library in midtown Anchorage are immediately greeted by a quote adorning the lobby wall from Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling: "When in doubt, go to the library." It's sound advice that Rebecca Barker hopes everyone takes to heart."People come to the library with all kinds of questions. Some of those questions are, 'How do I build a log cabin?' or, 'How do I find out what my grandfather did for a living?' And some of them are more like, 'Where am I going to live next week?' or, 'How do I start treatment?' Those are way beyond the scope of your average library staff," explains Barker.
