Celebrating first-generation faculty and staff at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ
by Green & Gold News |
National First Generation College Celebration Day (First Gen Day, Nov. 8) is rapidly approaching. First Gen Day is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of first generation college students, faculty, and staff. First generation is defined as students or graduates whose parents did not complete a bachelor's degree.
In past years, TRIO Programs at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ have proudly celebrated this day with our students. This year, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ First Generation Faculty and Staff Committee is excited to expand previous efforts into a full First Generation Awareness Week that recognizes and celebrates students and employees across the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.
As part of this celebration, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ First Generation Faculty and Staff Committee wants to honor and highlight Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ employees who were part of the first generation in their families to graduate with a bachelor’s degree:
"If you are first generation, we’d love for you to be part of this recognition. In addition to recognizing the first generation faculty and staff at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, we hope that sharing your stories will inspire and empower our current first generation students to strive and succeed in college."
Employees are asked to take a few moments to fill this short Google Form. The deadline for submission is Monday, Nov. 3.
