Biography

Dr. Amana Mbise is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Alaska Anchorage (Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ) School of Social Work. His practice and research focus on health equity, labor exploitation, and immigrant and refugee integration. Dr. Mbise has specialized training in quantitative and qualitative community-engaged research methods, working alongside underserved communities to design interventions to address health inequities in Alaska. 

 Dr. Mbise brings extensive experience in research leadership, having served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on grant-funded projects in the United States and Tanzania. His research has received funding from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the Department of State J/TIP Program, Anchorage Health Department, and the Alaska Department of Health.
