- What does the registration fee cover?The academy fee covers less than one third the costs of providing these high-quality academies, which include instruction from ĢƵ Engineering faculty, academy staff, materials and other expenses. Generous donations from ConocoPhillips Alaska and MTA Foundation cover the remaining costs.
- I can't afford the registration fee. Should I still apply?Yes! We want all students to be able to attend the academies. We have a limited number of academy tuition waivers available for qualifying students.
- I'm a student in high school. Will these academies be challenging to me?Yes. All of our academies are designed to challenge students in the grade levels specified for the academy.
- How does the lottery system work?During the beginning of March, applicants will be included in a randomized lottery selection process. Applicants will be notified by email to which academies they have been admitted after the lottery selection. Upon receipt of the admittance email, parents/guardians will be asked to complete the registration process by the enrollment deadline included in the email.
- What happens after the lottery?Upon completion of the lottery selection process, parents/guardians will receive a “Confirmation of ĢƵ SEA Admitted Academies” email. If a student is not admitted to the maximum number of desired academies, parents/guardians may opt to enroll during open enrollment, should vacant seats remain.
- I missed my Registration Deadline. What happens now?If you do not register and pay for a session that your student has been admitted to by the Registration Deadline, your student will be removed from the session. You may reapply during open enrollment should seats be available.
- I submitted an application, but did not receive a “Confirmation of ĢƵ SEA Admitted
Academies” email. What do I do?After submitting an application, parents/guardians should receive a “Confirmation of ĢƵ SEA Admitted Academies” email within five (5) business days. If you have not received an “Application Confirmation” email, please contact us at sea@alaska.edu.
- I received a “Confirmation of ĢƵ SEA Admitted Academies” email, but my student's
choices are not correct (or there are no choices indicated). How do I fix it?Either reply to the “Confirmation of ĢƵ SEA Admitted Academies” email or contact us at sea@alaska.edu.
