Youth Exploration Camps

Exploration Camps provide a transformative opportunity for high school students across Alaska to dive into the world of healthcare professions. Designed specifically for students ages 15–19, these intensive, hands-on camps go far beyond the standard curriculum.

Each camp is structured to award 2–3 college credits and provides students the opportunity to earn highly sought-after, industry-recognized credentials. Whether you are curious about clinical practice, emergency medicine, or behavioral health, our programs provide the essential foundation needed to launch your career.

HEALTH CAREER CAMPS

Our Health Career Camps offer immersive exploration into a wide variety of clinical and allied healthcare professions. Students don't just sit in a classroom—they engage directly with critical medical topics through interactive learning modules.

Key topics covered include:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Medical Ethics and Patient Confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Professionalism in the Workplace
  • Emergency Response and Triage

Throughout the camp, students are tested on their skills and may graduate with vital industry certifications such as CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogen training, and Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) credentials.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CAREER CAMPS

The Behavioral Health Career Camps are designed for students passionate about psychology, social work, and community wellness. This camp provides an in-depth exploration into mental health career pathways.

Students learn critical intervention and wellness techniques regarding:

  • Abuse, Neglect, and Trauma-Informed Care
  • Addiction and Substance Use Disorder
  • Grief, Stress Management, and Mental Health Resilience

Upon successful completion of the behavioral health track, students will receive national certifications in either Teen Mental Health First Aid or QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention, empowering them to become advocates in their own communities.
