ENGAGE: INTRODUCING ALASKANS TO HEALTH CAREERS

The Alaska Center for Rural Health & Health Workforce (ACRH-HW) offers hands-on training and career exploration programs to help Alaskans start their journey in the healthcare field.

These programs provide opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials, such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and Mandt De-escalation Training, giving participants a competitive edge for employment in healthcare.

Youth Exploration Camps

Students participate in hands-on, week-long programs to explore careers in allied health, public health, behavioral health, and medicine. Each camp includes an industry-recognized credential and may be offered for dual credit.

Rural Health CTEPS

In response to the shortage of career and technical education instructors in rural Alaska, Alaska AHEC partners with the Department of Education to provide districts with qualified instructors, implementing career pathways that best meet the needs of each school.

PATH Academies

The Pre-Apprenticeship Training in Healthcare (PATH) Academy is for Alaskans 16+ interested in exploring healthcare careers. Participants become CPR certified, receive MHFA training, and gain essential job-readiness skills.
